Quality and Flexibility

Our General English Courses are designed to offer students the opportunity to take English Language classes at times which suit their schedule. Some students prefer morning classes where their afternoons are free to enjoy sightseeing or our free afternoon cultural programme during the summer months.

Other students prefer to attend class in the afternoons or in the evenings and to have the rest of the day free to shop work, sightsee, socialize. Whatever your schedule, call in to our friendly receptionist and we're sure that we have a schedule to suit you !

General English Courses

 

 

Teachers and Classes

All our teachers have university degrees as well as a recognised qualification in teaching English to foreign students. We choose our teachers on the basis of their experience, and on their ability to get on well with students.

We believe that successful learning can only be achieved in an environment that is both stimulating and enjoyable, and so, you are encouraged to develop self-confidence in using your English language skills in practical, everyday
situations. As you progress, you will be exposed to a more in-depth analysis of the English language in higher-level or examination classes. Our selection of self-study materials, books and tapes, support the student in further improving your language capabilities.

We focus on the four key areas of Listening , Speaking, Reading and Writing although particular emphasis is given to fluency, conversation and pronunciation. Self-access materials, wireless and computers are available free-of-charge to our students.

Levels and class size

We offer classes to all levels of student from Beginner to Advanced ( Council of Europe levels A1- C1). Our maximum class size is 15 students ,but, on average, the class size is 10 - 12 students.

Timetable

Our classes operate from 09.00 to 21.45 Monday to Thursday ( we close at 17.00 on Friday !).

Morning Classes run from 09:00 – 13:00.
Afternoon classes run from 13:45 – 17:15
Evening Classes run form 18.00 – 21:45 Monday – Thursday.

Course Duration
You can attend the General English Course for any period of 1 week or longer.
If you are planning on staying in Ireland for a long time, then we can offer you special rates. Please contact us for more details.

Commencement Dates
You can start a General English Course on any weekday during the year . Exceptions are during public holidays and school holidays.

Part-time English Courses

Maybe you are a night-time person who prefers to relax in the morning ; you might possibly be an individual who works all day leaving no or little time for studying; or you might be an au-pair who is only free in the evenings. You might even be on our au-pair programme.

Our evening classes run four-evenings per week Monday to Thursday. Classes begin at 17.45 and run until 21.45. You can choose two, three or four evenings per week.

You can also study for the Cambridge First Certificate or Advanced Certificate .

What to do

Registering for our part-time classes couldn't be simpler. Come along to our school and pick up a registration form, or download the form and email it to us.

On the day you wish to begin classes, come to reception and, once your fees are paid, you will be given an enrolment test. When you have completed the test, it will be corrected by our evening Director of Studies. You may also have a short oral interview.

You will then be place in a class at your appropriate level.

It's as simple as that.

If , after a few classes, you feel that the level is too easy or too difficult, don't be afraid to let us know. You can tell your teacher, or reception, or the evening Director of Studies. We will do all we can to make sure that you are happy with the classes and the school !

Intensive English

 

Our intensive English Classes are designed for those learners who have only a short time in which to study with us. Studying on one of our intensive programmes will greatly enhance your vocabulary and fluency. It is ideally suited to businesspeople and for people who need to use English in their work environment.

Classes focus on English as it is used by native speakers, and our teachers set clear goals for you to achieve. Our teachers also incorporate authentic materials into their classes, and use the most up-to-date teaching methods.

All our teachers are fully-qualified : your teacher will have a primary degree as well as a recognised qualification in teaching English to foreign students. We choose our teachers on the basis of their experience and their ability in the classroom.

Our other academic staff are available throughout the day to advise and guide you.

 

 

If you choose an intensive option with us you have the opportunity to combine our general English Morning and, Afternoon classes and study for 35 hours per week.

Our classes operate from 09.00 to 21.45 Monday to Thursday ( we close at 17.00 on Friday !).

Professional English

 

Swan Training Institute was founded in 1988, and over the years has developed expertise in delivering high-quality courses to businesspeople and to practitioners of many different professions. The courses we offer can be tailored to groups or to individuals.

Professional English classes are also available on a one-to-one basis.You can choose from 3 or 5 hours individual tuition per day (Monday-Friday). Our most popularProfessional English courses allow you to study 4 hours General English in the mornings with 5 hours individual tuition per week (Comb 1 on our booking page) OR 4 hours General English in the mornings with 10 hours individual tuition per week (Comb2 on our booking page). The content of the individual tuition will be focused on the vocabulary and grammar of your professional area.
